ABLE Empowerment Grant Signup

For ABLE account eligible individuals residing in Kansas, a $100 ABLE empowerment grant has been made available thanks to financial support from CareSource, Sunflower Health Plan, Arcare, the Kansas Financial Empowerment Foundation and the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities (KCDD). To date, $85,000 has been raised to help fund the opening of 850 Kansas ABLE savings accounts. The following steps must be completed by the ABLE eligible individual and/or their caregiver(s):

  • Fill out and submit the form below. Grant funds are available on a first come, first served basis. The date and time the form below is submitted will determine priority for awarding grant funds.
  • Attend one in-person or virtual ABLE educational event.
  • Establish a new Kansas ABLE savings account before December 31, 2024. Please note that opening an ABLE account is subject to certain eligibility restrictions. In general, an individual is eligible for an ABLE account if he or she has been diagnosed with a qualifying disability, and the disability began before the age of 26. For more details on qualifying disabilities and other eligibility requirements, please see treasurer.ks.gov/able and the Plan Disclosure Booklet.

Upon completion and verification that a qualified individual has completed the above three steps, grant dollars will be funded into the newly established Kansas ABLE savings account. Empowerment grant funds will be disbursed from the Kansas Financial Empowerment Foundation. Email ABLEGrant@treasurer.ks.gov or call 785.230.1401 for additional questions.

Thanks to our partnerships, no taxpayer funds from the Office of the Kansas State Treasurer are used to fund the $100 ABLE empowerment grant.
